What is Hospital OS?

Hospital OS is a research and development project for a Hospital Management Software to support small rural hospitals in Thailand. It is financially supported by the Thailand Research Fund (TRF). "Hospital OS" is also used as the name of the software.

What is the development concept for Hospital OS software?

The development concept is to be an open source software, which means that the source code of the software can be downloaded for use by anyone. Hospital OS also promotes the programmer or system administrator to assist each other in solving any issue that arises through the online community.

How does Hospital OS differ from other software?

Hospital OS created a community online, which consists of Thai member hospitals from all over the country of Thailand, allowing them to communicate and help each other via the website at www.hospital-os.com.

How does Hospital OS software work?

It is a Client- Server software in which the server works as a central unit that stores all of the information and the clients are the units that feed the information into the server.

Which operating system and database does the server use to run Hospital OS?

The server uses Linux operating system and PostgreSQL as the database.

What language is used to develop the client software and operating system?

The client software is developed by using Java and it can be used with Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, Linux and other operating systems that have Java Virtual Machine installed.

What is the current version of Hospital OS software?

The current version is 3.0.

If I want to use Hospital OS software, what do I need to do?

To obtain the software, please contact us and here are some prerequisites:
  • The hospital director sees the importance in using the software to manage the hospital.
  • Technical requirements are as following,
  • The network speed of 100 Mb or faster.
  • The hospital has a server.
  • The client units have Celeron 800 MHz with 128 MB+ RAM at minimum.
  • The hospital has a responsible administrative person who can install Linux and knows SQL.

Which operating system can Hospital OS Server run on?

Hospital OS Server can be installed on Linux.

Hospital OS Client can be installed on Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, Linux and other operating systems that have Java Virtual Machine installed.

At which service point can Hospital OS be used?

Registration, Medical Records, Patient Screening Counter, X-Ray Laboratory, Pharmacy, Medical Statistic, IPD cashier, One Stop Service Point (can increase number of service station) and system administrator.

How does Hospital OS software produce reports?

It is done through the Administration page. Some of the reports use Microsoft Access 2000 in which the database is linked through ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) while others use Office TLE (Thai Language Edition) to link the database with ODBC or JDBC (Open Database Connectivity or Java Database Connectivity).
